A Dutch lawyer has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay a fine of some $20,000 by a court in the US for lying to special prosecutor Robert Mueller who is investigating possible Russian interference in the US presidential election.

Alex van der Zwaan, who is 33 and had previously worked with Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign manager, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with two others, including a person the FBI suspects is connected to Russian military intelligence.

The Dutchman, who is married to the daughter of one of Russia’s richest men, is the 19th person to be charged by Mueller and the first to be formally sentenced.

According to the BBC, Van der Zwaan, who studied in England and lives in London, was fired by law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom last year. The company is cooperating with Mueller’s investigation.

Time magazine points out that Van der Zwaan has no known ties to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, but says he did work on Ukranian matters with Manafort and deputy Rick Gates, both of whom have been charged by Mueller.
