Two-thirds of Dutch businesses now have fast broadband internet
Two-thirds of all Dutch companies with a payroll of 10 or more had broadband internet connections of more than 30 megabits per second in 2017, double the total five years ago, national statistics office CBS said on Friday. A full 89% of these companies reported the speed of their internet was satisfactory.
The number of companies with a fast fixed internet connection of 100 megabits/s or more is also growing quickly, rising to 28% last year from 8% in 2012.
Companies involved in telecommunications, publishing, film and radio, and IT services had the fastest internet connections. Nine out of 10 companies in these sectors had connections of 30 megabits/s or more. And 71% of telecoms companies had connections of at least 100 Megabits/s.
The lowest internet connection speeds were found in textiles companies, restaurants and cafés where only 52% of businesses had connections of at least 30 megabit/s.
