Rabobank worker suspected of tipping off robbers about big cash withdrawals
A Rabobank worker in Zundert in Brabant may have tipped off a gang of criminals about customers who took out large amounts of cash, regional Brabant paper BN De Stem reported on Wednesday.
The bank worker was picked up following the arrest of five men on Friday after police cornered their van while the gang was allegedly waiting to rob another Rabobank client, the paper said.
One man was shot in the arm during the action because police suspected he was armed. All six men are in custody and will remain so for the next fourteen days.
The men came to the attention of the police after a street robbery in Venlo in Limburg where a 63 year-old man from Müllheim was robbed of a large amount of money shortly after having taken it out of the bank.
Police surveillance and phone taps revealed they may have been planning to to do the same in Zundert, the paper said.
