Stormy weather ahead: code yellow weather warning for Tuesday
The KNMI weather bureau has issued a code yellow weather warning for much of the country on Tuesday, saying strong winds and localised thunderstorms will hit the Netherlands later in the day.
Storm-force winds of up to 95 kph are expected in southern and coastal regions while thunder and lightning will hit the north and south in the afternoon, the KNMI says.
The ANWB motorists organisation says the evening rush hour is expected to be particularly busy because of the storm.
It will remain windy on Wednesday but by Thursday the gales will go and it will be warmer, with sunny spells, showers and temperatures in the low 20s.
