Storm force winds set to batter the Netherlands on Thursday
Winds of up to 130 kph are set to hit coastal areas on Thursday evening as a major storm moves in from the Atlantic, Dutch weather bureaus said on Wednesday.
The storm is expected to be at its height around rush hour and the winds will be particularly strong in the west of the country. The KNMI weather bureau has already issued a code yellow weather warning for the entire country.
Weather bureau Weeronline.nl warns there is a major risk of storm damage in Zuid-Holland, Noord-Holland, Friesland and on the Wadden islands. Train services may be disrupted and flights delayed at the country’s airports, Weeronline said.
The wind will drop again in Friday and there may be some sunny spells, the KNMI said.
