Schiphol and Eindhoven airports book record third quarters
Both Schiphol and Eindhoven airports processed record numbers of passengers in the third quarter of this year, according to new figures from national statistics office CBS.
At Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport passenger numbers rose 8% to 18.6 million between July and September. At Eindhoven the rise was 15% to 1.5 million, thanks to new destinations in Spain, Germany and the Czech Republic.
The CBS figures show overall airport numbers have been rising steadily for the past six years.
However, Rotterdam, Groningen and Maastricht all dealt with fewer passengers in the third quarter. The downturn in Rotterdam was marginal but Maastricht saw passenger numbers fall over 34% after flights to a number of destinations were withdrawn.
