Dutch DJ Martin Garrix is voted best in the world, six Dutch in top 10
Twenty-year-old Martin Garrix has become the youngest ever winner of DJ Mag’s top 100 DJs poll, in which Dutchmen dominate the top 10.
Garrix was awared the trophy by fellow Dutchman and mentor Tiesto on stage at the poll award ceremony at the Heineken Music Hall. The event was the opening party in this year’s AMF Festival, the largest of the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).
‘It feels unreal to have won. I 100% did not expect it at all,’ Garrix told DJ Mag. ‘I’ve had an amazing year, with awesome shows and amazing fans — I’m so thankful for their support. It just shows how dope the fan-base is.’
Six of the top 10 DJs in the ranking are Dutch. Alongside Garrix, are Hardwell (3) Armin van Buuren (4), Tiesto (5), Oliver Heldens (8) and Afrojack (10). Over one million people from all over the world voted in the poll.
