Sunday could see more weather records being broken
Weather forecasters said on Friday that new records could be broken at the weekend, as warm southerly winds bring unseasonably high temperatures to much of the country.
Some forecasters say the temperature could reach as high as 26 degrees in places on Sunday, which would smash the previous record for September 25 by as much as two degrees.
The previous record of 23.8 degrees was recorded at the De Bilt weather station near Hilversum in 1956.
The KNMI weather bureau is less optimistic about the temperature, putting it at a maximum of 24 degrees on Sunday. There may also be some showers that day, the KNMI said.
