Man dies after stepping in to break up brawl in Amsterdam’s red light district
Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old man who was attacked while trying to break up a street fight in Amsterdam’s red light district.
The man was out with a group of friends on Saturday evening when they came across what police described as a row between ‘a group of light skinned men and three men of Eastern European appearance.’
The victim, from Veldhuizen, Gelderland, suffered a brain injury when he was knocked to the ground by the three men, who then fled the scene. Police managed to resuscitate the man and take him to hospital, where he died on Monday morning.
AT5 reported that police have assigned 25 officers to the investigation and plan to send text messages to everyone who was in the area at the time, after collecting mobile phone data. The force has also appealed for people to hand over video footage of the incident.
