Rotterdam criminals have been discovered hiding drugs in some unusual places – jars of peanut butter and greetings cards, reports the Telegraaf.

Two men, a 55-year-old Rotterdammer and a 31-year-old from Capelle aan den IJssel, were apprehended in the city last week with two shopping bags full of drugs hidden inside pots of the popular Dutch sandwich spread and cards.

They were leaving a house in Beatrice Woodstraat that police had been observing for some time and where, in January, a raid turned up a loaded revolver and box filled with €30,000 – which, police say, pointed to drugs activity.

Another 31-year-old man was arrested leaving the house in a car, which contained €35,000. Three other men were arrested alongside two women, who have now been released.

Meanwhile, a search of the house turned up another €30,000 and drugs thought to have been intended for international smuggling. Police said in a press release on Friday that they discovered ‘over three kilos of LSD, ecstasy and cocaine, two kilograms of hemp and lots of jars of peanut butter.’
