Dutch mum who escaped from IS is back in the Netherlands with her kids
Laura Hansen, the 20-year-old woman who claims to have escaped from the Islamic State forces in Syria has returned to the Netherlands with her two children.
The plane carrying Hansen landed on Monday night. She was immediately arrested and taken into custody – standard treatment for people returning from IS controlled territories.
The public prosecution department says the girl is suspected of membership of a terrorist organisation in Syria and will be questioned accordingly. It is not yet clear if she will face charges.
Her two children have been placed with a foster family in discussion with Hansen’s own family.
Laura Hansen appeared on Kurdish television almost three weeks ago telling that she had been held in Raqqa since September. She claimed to have been taken there against her will by her husband and to have escaped with the help of her father and Kurdish fighters.
Some sources said she had left her injured husband behind.
