Dutch employers’ chief says only allow in refugees who can work
The Netherlands and other European countries should only allow in refugees who have the chance of a job, according to the head of the biggest Dutch employers’ organisation VNO-NCW.
Hans de Boer says in an interview with the Telegraaf that the restriction is needed because Europe can no longer cope with the stream of refugees.
‘You should let them come on the basis of a test,’ he said. ‘In that you should ask “will you make it in our society?” They are real refugees but you don’t let everyone in.’
Refugees who don’t have a future in Europe should be taken care of in Turkey and other countries in the region, De Boer said. ‘And we will have to make an effort to make sure they get opportunities, however difficult it may be,’ De Boer said.
