Property values are highest in Laren, lowest in Heerlen
The most expensive houses in the Netherlands are to be found in the leafy town of Laren near Hilversum, which has knocked Bloemendaal off the top spot after several years.
The average price of a home in Laren is now €538,000, RTL news reported. The broadcaster bases its claims on official property valuations supplied to the national statistics office CBS.
Property values in Bloemendaal have fallen sharply since the start of the housing crisis, from €702,000 and now average €531,000, RTL said. Blaricum, which borders Laren, is third on the list, with an average value of €524,000.
The cheapest housing is in Heerlen in southern Limburg, with an average value of €120,000, almost half the national average of €206,000.
The CBS said on Monday that house prices are rising at their fastest rate since the market peaked in 2008. The average sale price in November was 3.8% higher than a year earlier, a rate of growth not seen since April 2008.
