Missing Scottish tourist’s body found in Amsterdam canal
The body of a Scottish holidaymaker who vanished in Amsterdam after going out for a walk in the early hours of the morning has been found in a city centre canal, police said on Wednesday evening.
Army divers using sonar equipment found a body in the Oude Schans earlier in the day.
Chris Nelson, 24, disappeared on November 15 after going for a walk from Rechtboomsloot, where he and his fiancee were staying with a friend. His family do not believe he had been drinking heavily or taking drugs the night before he went missing.
According to local broadcaster AT5, some 15 people drown in Amsterdam’s canals every year.
