Missing Scot’s trail leads to Amsterdam bridge

Chris NelsonPolice searching for a missing Scottish tourist in Amsterdam have retraced part of the route he took using sniffer dogs.

Chris Nelson, 24, disappeared in the early hours of November 15 after going for a walk from Rechtboomsloot, where he and his fiancee had been staying with a friend.

Search teams working with dogs have followed Nelson’s scent trail along Oudeschans and over the Keizersbrug bridge, the Parool reports. Police added the search was continuing.

Nelson’s German fiancee, Stefanie Kollroß, said she had been out with him in the city the night before and eaten pizza at 3am. Nelson got up a few hours later because he was unable to sleep.

‘Since then we have been in a living nightmare,’ said Nelson’s father Scott. ‘It’s in my head when I go to sleep and it’s still there when I wake up. I can’t shake it off.’

The family do not believe he had been drinking heavily or taking drugs the night before he went missing.

Move

Nelson and his fiancee live together in Düsseldorf, but were planning to move to Mr Nelson’s home city of Edinburgh.

His mother Donna said: ‘He was looking forward to coming to live in Scotland again. He was going to tell his sisters at Christmas. He’s not the kind of young man who would leave us.’

When he went missing Nelson was wearing grey jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt, black Nike sneakers and glasses. Anyone who may have seen him is urged to contact the police on 0800-6070.
