Over 110,000 Dutch Turks vote in Turkish general election
At least 110,000 Dutch Turks voted in the Turkish parliamentary elections, an embassy spokesman told news agency ANP on Monday.
That is a large rise on the 76,000 who voted in the previous election five months ago, ANP says. In total, 240,000 Dutch Turks have the right to vote in Turkey.
Voting took place over five days at three different locations in the Netherlands. New elections were called because efforts to form a coalition after the previous vote have failed.
The Dutch privacy watchdog is investigating reports that many Dutch Turks were sent a letter earlier this month urging them to vote for the ruling AK party.
