Fewer people default on their health insurance

doctor euros healthcare costOver 25,000 people were registered as defaulting on their health insurance in the second quarter of 2015, data processing group Localfocus said on Thursday.

This is down on both the previous quarter and the same quarter in 2014, Localfocus said.

People are registered if they have missed payments for six months or more. On average, 1.9 people in a thousand defaulted on their health insurance in the second quarter of the year.

Rotterdammers were most likely not to pay – there the increase was 4.2 per thousand. Schiedam, The Hague, Lelystad and Almere were also far above the national average.

In 2014 as a whole, 111,654 people were registered as new defaulters.
