One of 29 men accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl at a hotel in Valkenburg has been found not guilty by judges in Maastricht.

The court agreed to give its verdict in the man’s case ahead of schedule because of his poor mental health and continual crying during the hearing, the Telegraaf reports.

The man, who is 55, admitted being at the hotel with the aim of having sex, which he hoped would cure his erection problems. ‘I saw her and she did not excite me sexually at all,’ he told the court. ‘I got on my bike and went home’.

The public prosecution department had called for the man to be jailed for one year, four months suspended.

The other men accused of having sex with the girl will have to wait up to two weeks for their verdicts. The Telegraaf says it is extremely unusual for judges to announce an instant verdict.

Earlier this month, a 21-year-old man was jailed for two years for encouraging the girl to become a prostitute.
