Freelance pay rates under pressure, marketeers hardest hit
Freelance pay rates are coming under increasing pressure and marketeers have been particularly hard hit, according to research by freelancer website Hoofdkraan.nl.
In 2015, marketeers are earning an average of €48 an hour, compared with €62 two years ago, the website research shows.
On average, a freelancer now charges €44 an hour, down €1 on a year ago. Project managers, coaches and support staff are the highest paid while translators, sales staff and secretaries earn an average of €35 an hour.
The most expensive freelancers are in Noord-Brabant, while in The Hague average fees have slumped to €37 an hour because of the intense competition, the website says.
Hoofdkraan is a platform where companies can place freelance jobs and freelancers can make an offer to do the work. The site is mainly used by new freelancers.
The fee survey is based on all offers made for contracts over the past year.
