Ajax draw 2-2 against Rapid Vienna in key Champions League tie
Amsterdam football club Ajax gave away a two goal lead in their key Champions League qualifying tie against Rapid Vienna on Wednesday night.
At half time, Ajax led 2-0 through two Davy Klaasen goals, the first from close range, the second a header after a sustained period of pressure.
However, Vienna pulled back early in the second half and despite a red card were able to equalise 14 minutes from time.
The second leg takes place in Amsterdam next Tuesday.
‘It is not a bad result, but it should have been far better,’ coach Frank de Boer told broadcaster SBS after the game.
