School final exams kick off on Monday

school exam pupil writing penSchool leaving exams for 206,000 secondary school pupils start on Monday, an increase of nearly 10,000 on a year ago.

The exam period, which runs for two weeks, kicks off with physics, chemistry, economics and Dutch exams.

In total, 110,000 pupils at trade schools (vmbo), 57,600 in pre-college streams (havo) and 38,450 pupils in pre-university streams (vwo) are taking school leaving exams this year.
