One killed, several injured in crane accident at village show
One person was killed and 10 injured in an accident involving a crane truck at a village show in Gelderland on Saturday.
Three of the injured are said to have been seriously hurt in the accident, which happened when the truck reportedly became unstable and toppled into the crowd. Several people who were in the lift were injured when the crane fell and hit a man in his 40s. He died at the scene.
The injured people, including several children, were taken to various nearby hospitals by ambulance and helicopter.
The police and labour inspectorate are investigating exactly what happened, broadcaster Omroep Gelderland said.
The crane was part of the entertainment at the show, which focused on old-fashioned farm vehicles, cars and motorbikes.
Between 400 and 500 people were at the show when the accident happened.
