Dutch inflation rate rises for third month in a row
The Dutch inflation rate rose for the third month in a row in April, reaching 0.6%, the national statistics office CBS said on Thursday.
In March the official inflation rate was 0.4% and in February 0.2%.
Calculated according to standardised European rates, the inflation rate in the Netherlands was 0%, in line with the EU average. In March it was -0.3%.
The difference in the two methods is based on how they use housing costs. The Dutch method includes the impact of housing rent rises but this is excluded in the Europe-wide calculations.
The CBS said the rise in April was triggered by more expensive mobile phones, which offset a drop in food prices.
Excluding the impact of highly volatile components like energy and food, the Dutch inflation rate in April was 1.1%, the CBS said.
