School director went shopping for himself on the school’s bank card

Paying at pin machineA school foundation in Noord-Brabant province is making a formal police complaint against its director whom, the organisation claims, has stolen some €200,000 since 2009.

The director was suspended at the end of last year. The Stichting Primair Onderwijs in Zundert (Spoz) operates five primary schools and claims the director used the school’s bank card to shop for himself, spending €500 a week on groceries alone.

As well as supermarket bills, unexplained purchases were made in diy stores, men’s clothing stores, a perfume shop and furniture shops. The director also paid for three visits to a sex cinema, the Volkskrant reports.

The foundation says a check of its 2014 books revealed €35,000 in dubious transactions. Similar amounts are thought to be missing since the director joined the group in 2009.

The director denies the charges and is fighting the foundation’s efforts to have him sacked.
