The new edition of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo is not yet on sale in the Netherlands but copies are already being offered on the Dutch online auction website Marktplaats and bids have topped €90, RTL news says on Wednesday.

Officially, 500 issues are being imported into the Netherlands and will be sold via 60 to 80 Ako stores nationwide later today or tomorrow.

One Marktplaats seller, who names himself John de Groot, asked family members living in France to buy five copies for him, RTL news says. He has raised €185 in the online auction and has since removed his advert.

Jeroen from Heythuysen in Limburg claims to have had nine bids of between €10 and €90 for his copies but told RTL he was not certain he could guarantee delivery because he still had to buy them.

Reginald Wim, who is offering a copy for €100, said in his advert he was not worried by threats because ‘no one scares me’. Nor did he welcome emails from people accusing him of benefiting from the deaths of others.

This week’s edition of Charlie Hebdo, which went on sale in France on Wednesday, was printed in an edition of three million but demand led this to being increased to five million. The magazine’s offices were attacked by terrorists last week, who killed 12 people.
