Sparrow again most common bird in Dutch gardens
The sparrow was again the country’s most common garden bird in this weekend’s mass count, bird protection groups said on Monday.
Around 45,000 people took part in the count. Number two on the list was the great tit, followed by the blackbird and the blue tit.
People taking part in the count were asked to write down how many and what type of birds they spotted over a 30 minute period. In total, over 776,000 birds were identified, of which 151,878 were sparrows.
