Amsterdam shooting victim may have been mistaken for someone else
The man shot dead in Amsterdam on Tuesday night was a 37-year-old Ghanaian who worked as a dishwasher at a city restaurant and had no known criminal connections, the Parool says on Thursday.
Augustine Nyantakyi was known as a quiet man who played music in a band attached to the Jesus Christ Foundation Church in the city’s Zuidoost district. He was well known in the local Ghanaian community, the paper says.
Police have found no links between him and the underworld and there are suggestions he may have been the victim of mistaken identity, the paper says.
Nyantakyi was hit by several bullets from an automatic weapon in the Wolbrantskerkweg and died at the scene.
