Rotterdam student wins televised national dictation test

The 25th edition of the national dictation test (Het Groot Dictee der Nederlandse Taal) has been won by a Dutch student with seven mistakes.

Randy van Halen from Dordrecht is a second year cultural studies student in Rotterdam.

Belgian writer Christophe Vekeman was the best of the celebrity participants with 11 mistakes, followed by Belgian television news chief Björn Soenens. Nos weatherman Peter Kuipers Munneke was third best celeb with 14 mistakes.

The televised national dictation test has been held since 1990 and is compiled by a different well-known writer every year.

This year’s entry was written by Bart Chabot, who always takes part as a celebrity participant. His piece was entitled ‘Tussen niemendalletje en blankebabybilletjesprivilege’.
