Dutch unemployment rate falls for fifth month in a row.

The Dutch unemployment rate fell for the fifth month in a row in September and now stands at 8%, the national statistics office CBS said on Thursday.

In total, the official jobless total fell by 4,000 to 628,000, the CBS said. However, the decline is modest compared with previous months. Since May, the number of people without work has fallen by almost 60,000.

The number of people claiming unemployment benefits fell by 11,000 last month to 420,000.

 

Measured according to the International Labour Organisation definition, the Dutch unemployment rate is 6.5%, down from 6.6% in August.
