Wesley Sneijder is the World Cup’s marathon runner – so far

Wesley Sneijder has so far covered more kilometres than any other player during the football World Cup, according to Fifa statistics.

The 30-year-old midfielder has so far run 69.6 kilometres and is followed by Arjen Robben on 69.1. Germany’s striker Thomas Müller is third with 68.8 kilometres.

All three players are in action again this weekend. Oranje is in the play-offs for third place against Brazil on Saturday while Germany take on Argentina in Sunday’s final.
