Road and rail disruption as A4 crash leaves lorry on railway tracks
Traffic on the A4 motorway near Amsterdam and train services to Schiphol airport were disrupted on Friday morning after a lorry ended up on the railway track due to a crash.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the A4 between Badhoevendorp and Sloten while Dutch railway company NS says there are no trains operating between Amsterdam and Schiphol airport.
Two lorries and one car were involved in the crash. One of the lorries, trying to avoid the others, plunged through the safety barriers onto the railway.
It will be at least 16.00 hours before rail services are back to normal, the NS said.
