Convicted paedophile leaves home

Convicted paedophile Sytze van der V, who was living above a daycare centre in Amersfoort, has left his home, according to the Telegraaf.

Sytze van der V, who has served jail time for abusing several boys, has been living in Amersfoort since May. Amersfoort city council argues it has no powers to move Van der V. because he has served his sentence.

Last week, people living in the same neighbourhood held a protest, calling on the mayor to move him out of the city within a week. The deadline given was this Tuesday.

‘There are people who want to lynch him if they come across him,’ Nos quoted one of the locals as saying.

According to the Telegraaf, Van der V has now moved out of his flat. He told the paper the police had offered him a safe house but he did not want to be ‘imprisoned’.

He is staying the night outside of Amersfoort and does not think there is a solution to his housing problem, the paper says.
