Dutch nationals kidnapped in Nigeria released, to fly home tonight
Three Dutch nationals kidnapped in Nigeria a week ago have been released and will fly out to the Netherlands on Sunday evening, the Dutch foreign ministry has confirmed.
‘They are in good shape. They are taking it easy,’ said Nigerian activist Sunny Ofehe, who was with the three when they were taken by armed men. Ofehe also lives in the Netherlands.
Ofehe says no ransom was paid for the Dutch nationals and that the kidnappers have not been arrested, news agency ANP reported.
The three Dutch nationals are Erhard Leffers and Marianne Vos, who work for a printing company in Dedemsvaart and with Ofehe produce a magazine about the Niger Delta. The third is documentary maker Jan Dries Groenendijk.
