NS takes IC Direct high-speed trains out of service
The Intercity Direct trains which replaced the ill-fated Fyra on the high-speed line between Amsterdam and Breda were taken out of service on Tuesday.
According to the NS, which is responsible for the trains, there are problems with the flow of electricity to the locomotives.
All 18 locomotives have been taken out of service and are being checked by the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier.
It is not known how long the investigation will take.
In the meantime, passengers will have to travel in the slower trains, adding half an hour to their journey. The Benelux train between Breda and Antwerp and Brussels is still running, the NRC reports.
