Ditch Internet Explorer, say Dutch tech crime police
Dutch police have issued a warning against the use of Internet Explorer following the discovery of a major security leak in the system.
The high tech crime team issued a warning using Twitter saying ‘only use it if you have no choice, and then in an extended, secure mode’.
Police have also warned the users of Microsoft XP they will remain vulnerable even when the leak is patched because Microsoft is no longer updating the system.
Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera offer safer alternatives, the Dutch police said.
Microsoft said on Saturday the leak allows ‘remote code execution if users visit a malicious website with an affected browser. This would typically occur by an attacker convincing someone to click a link in an email or instant message.’
