Oops: visitor knocks over and smashes vase in Groninger Museum
A visitor to the Groninger Museum in Groningen has knocked over and smashed a heavy vase by Spanish ceramics maker Jaime Hayon.
The man was taking photographs in the museum’s information centre when he banged into the vase, said to weigh 80 kg, and knocked it from its plinth. The vase smashed into pieces on the museum’s marble floor.
Hayon made the vase for the museum in 2010 when he developed the interior of the information centre. The museum authorities have not yet put a value on the piece but will ask the artist to make a new one, broadcaster Nos reported.
