Duinrell holiday park to house refugees over the winter
The Duinrell holiday park in Wassenaar is to be used to house 600 asylum seekers this winter, according to local broadcaster Omroep West.
COA, the organisation in charge of finding accommodation for refugees, says it needs more places because of an increase in numbers, mainly people fleeing the fighting in Syria.
Locals have been sent a letter about the plan and the first refugees are due to arrive next week. Duinrell was also used to provide emergency housing for refugees between 1997 and 2011.
The COA has closed numerous refugee centres over the past few years because of falling refugee numbers.
