Former PVV councillor launches Islamic party
A former councillor for the anti-Islam PVV in The Hague has launched a political party founded on Islamic principles.
Arnoud van Doorn converted to Islam after being thrown out of the PVV at the end of 2011 because of ‘financial irregularities’.
The new party will be based on ‘Islamic norms and values’ and open to everyone without segregation, Van Doorn said using the microblogging service Twitter.
Van Doorn still sits on the city council as an independent.
