Government to press on with wind turbine programme
The cabinet has no plans to revise its plans to build new wind parks, despite the recommendations of an influential advisory group.
The government’s macro-economic policy unit CPB said earlier this week that wind park plans should be put on ice for five years because of overcapacity in the market.
However, economic affairs minister Henk Kamp said on Tuesday the CPB’s position actually supported the government.
Most of the plans are currently in the very early stages and it will be years before planning permission is granted and the turbines are in use, the minister said.
In addition, new technology means new turbines will be much more cost effective, Kamp told MPs.
