Much evidence in Kidsweek child porn case declared inadmissable

A large amount of the evidence gathered by police investigating the involvment of the deputy editor of a children’s magazine in child pornography has been ruled inadmissable, Nos television reports.

Justice ministry officials failed to write down what can be seen on videos and photographs seized from the private computer of Maarten H and that is required by law, Nos says.

Judges have now ruled the films and photographs without descriptions cannot form part of the case against H and his partner. Nevertheless, enough material remains to make a solid case, a public prosecution department spokesman said.

A preliminary hearing should have been held on Wednesday but has now been delayed indefinitely because of the problems with the evidence.

The investigation into H followed a tip-off from Interpol and has been running since August. H has since been sacked by the editor of Kidsweek, a weekly news magazine for children.
