Parents of suicide youth want investigation into internet bullying
The parents of a 20-year-old youth who killed himself after being constantly bullied have made a formal police complaint against a person who wrote false statements about him on the internet, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.
The parents of Tim Ribberink caused a storm of debate after including the text of his suicide note in a newspaper death notice.
His family now want police to investigate who left two messages on the DinnerJudge.nl restaurant website using Tim’s name. One dates from 2010, the other was put on line this summer stating ‘I am a loser and a homo’ and including the youth’s address.
Henk and Martina Knol, the couple who ran the ice cream parlour where Tim worked, said they had noticed he had become more withdrawn and appeared to have lost weight.
Girls who worked with him used to ask him if he was gay and he always made a joke about it, the couple said. ‘If he was gay, he did not want anyone to know.’
Parents stunned by reaction after publishing son’s suicide note
