Talks on forming a new Dutch coalition government will continue on Monday as both VVD leader Mark Rutte and PvdA leader Diederik Samsom hold individual talks with negotiator Henk Kamp.

Kamp had talks with the leaders of every party on Friday, most of whom said initial efforts to form a new government should focus on Labour and the VVD.
The VVD, part of the outgoing government, won 41 seats in the 150-seat parliament in last week’s general election. The PvdA took 38, making a cabinet involving both parties a natural choice.
Both party leaders hinted on Friday another party could be involved in an eventual coalition to ensure stability and smooth the differences between the right-wing VVD and the PvdA. Most commentators see the Liberal democratic party D66 as a likely option.
Kamp hopes to complete his initial investigation into possible cabinets by Wednesday, so parliament can debate progress on Thursday, when the new-look parliament meets for the first time.
