Stolen bronze statues found hacked into pieces

Two bronze statues stolen from public places in small towns near the Veluwe national park have been found hacked into pieces in garden sheds.

Three men have been arrested in connection with the thefts following a tip-off.
One statue, stolen in Rhenen, featured the writer Simon Carmiggelt and his wife sitting on a park bench. The other, taken from outside a library in Dieren, was a large horse.
The local councils are looking at the possibility of having the statues restored, the Telegraaf reported.
