SNS bank fails banking capital test

Rabobank, ING and ABN Amro have passed the latest European banking association capital requirements test, but SNS has a shortfall of €159m, the EBA said.

The EBA looked at 71 European banks to make sure they are strong enough to cope with financial knocks.
SNS will now submit a plan to get its capital up to strength to the Dutch central bank and has already taken some steps to achieve this, the Utrecht-based bank said in a statement.
According to website MarketWatch, SNS is still struggling with ‘persistent losses’ at its real estate unit.
