In total, 27 people have died after becoming infected with a super bug at Maasstad hospital in Rotterdam, according to a press release issued by the healthcare institution on Tuesday.

The exact role of the bacteria in the deaths is still being looked into, the hospital said. A further 78 people have been found to be carriers and 1,967 people are under investigation, the press release stated.
The hospital says the outbreak is now under control because no infections have been identified in new patients admitted since July 18.
