MPs on Thursday evening voted in favour of a quota for Dutch language music on Radio 2, the public broadcaster which focuses on popular music.

The motion, drawn up by Martin Bosma from the anti-Islam PVV, requires programmers to make sure 35% of the music played on Radio 2 between 07.00 and 19.00 hours is produced in the Netherlands.
The aim of the measure is to boost the Dutch recording industry and the language, Bosma said.
Radio chiefs told news agency ANP the measure is on the edge of acceptable interference in broadcasting policy.
Salaries
MPs also voted in favour of a plan to reduce the salaries of more top earners in public broadcasting.
They have agreed that no more than three presenters, reporters or managers can earn more than the prime minister – around €190,000 a year. At the moment there are 11 people who break this limit.
MPs also rejected two motions calling for the planned 70% cut in the world service’s budget to be delayed or debated separately. According to RNW, this means the cuts will go ahead and the broadcaster will now draw up a redundancy plan which will be finalised in September.
