Some 350 people placed in foster care or children’s homes since 1945 have told a government commission they suffered abuse of some form.

Of them, 36 cases have been passed on to the public prosecution department because the incidents were recent enough to be formally investigated.
The commission was set up to look into allegations of abuse from children who were put under the care of social services.
Another government commission is investigating abuse within the Catholic church. It has had some 2,000 reports.
