Some post still delivered despite strike
TNT post was delivered in some parts of the country on Wednesday despite the strike by delivery and sorting office staff, Nos tv reports.
Some 4,000 people joined the strike – around 20% of staff affected by the company’s plans to reduce its workforce.
The strike has been called by the FNV and CNV unions, who want TNT to limit compulsory job losses to 2,300. TNT has pledged no more than 2,800 people will be sacked.
The BVPP union, which represents some 5,000 delivery workers, does not support the strike. It says pension deals and the social plan for workers affected by the job losses will be hurt if the strike continues.
The company on Wednesday called the strike, which lasts until Friday, ‘irresponsible’.
