Former Ajax players answer Cruijff’s plea for help

Eight former Ajax football club players and trainers will on Monday put themselves up for election to the members’ board, the Telegraaf reports.

The group includes former internationals Keje Molenaar, Edo Ophof, Dick Schoenaker, Barry Hulshoff, Peter Boeve and Piet Schrijvers, former player Ko Meijer and former youth trainer Dirk de Groot, the paper claims.
Earlier this month, Johan Cruijff called for a ‘revolution’ at Ajax to get the club back on track and urged former Ajax players to put themselves forward for the board. Eight of the 24 places are up for grabs and members will vote on the board’s new make-up on December 14.
The members’ board has the power to name and fire executive board members. Earlier Cruijff called for the entire executive board to be sacked.
