Book sales stand up to crisis

Despite the recession and downturn in retail sales, the sale of books in the Netherlands rose slightly last year, the national book sellers association said on Tuesday.

In total, 49 million books were sold, generating turnover of €642m and up 0.2% on 2008.
Despite the rise of the electronic book, just 110,000 e-books were sold.
